GENERAL QUESTIONS

WHY DO WE NEED TO RESERVE TICKETS FOR THE FAIR?

To ensure your safety during the event, we have limited slots of 400 people per half an hour. This is to ensure we are following the necessary COVID-19 safety measures currently in place for large scale events.

As part of the event will be located within a venue space, we need to ensure the air flow is sufficient for the total number of people within the venue - this includes the number of staff working on the day, and students in attendance.

We have therefore set up a ticket system, which allows you to book a slot in advance before attending to be guaranteed entry during your allotted time. This also means that you can work the Freshers fair into your academic calendar should the event need to be worked around.

We advise EVERYONE to PRE BOOK their slots as soon as possible if you wish to attend due to the high volume of footfall we expect during this event. If you do not book your slot and attend without a confirmation from us, we may ask you to wait in the queue until our numbers reduce.

To book your slot, click here to visit our booking page.

do we need to bring anything with us to the fair?

We kindly ask that when you attend one of our Freshers' Fairs that you please bring with you:

  • Your student ID card - this is issued to you by the University

  • A suitable face covering due to wear whilst inside the fair *Unless exempt. When visiting our outside stalls this will be optional

We recommend bringing a bag to carry any potential freebies or leaflets that you may collect throughout the event, but we will also be handing out Brighton SU branded tote bags as well should you need them, so come visit us!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANT ATTEND THE FAIR?

One of the biggest draws to our Freshers' Fairs are the numerous society & sports teams on show! If you can't attend because the events clash with your classes, or you cannot travel, worry not!

Societies & sports clubs are available to sign up and join all year long!

If you wish to join a society, simply visit the Official Brighton Students' Union Website and visit our Activities pages for more information on each society that is currently available to join: Find a Society (brightonsu.com)

If you wish to join a sports team, check out our friends at Sports Brighton, who have a jam-packed website of all the cool things that you can get involved with. Head over and give it a look to join: Student clubs: Panthers (brighton.ac.uk)

IM NERVOUS ABOUT ATTENDING THE FAIR

We understand that coming to a new place can be daunting and confusing, as well as trying to figure out what to sign-up to on the day!

If you're worried or anxious, simply look for one of our Brighton Students' Union staff members working during the event. They will be wearing their teal uniforms throughout the Freshers period, and have answers to nearly everything you could ask!

Our Activities team will also be available to help you figure out what sort of society or activity might be fun for you to get involved with, but you could always take our societies quiz before you arrive to decide what you might like to do beforehand: Which BSU Society should I join? (tryinteract.com)

We know that for a lot of you this might be your first large-scale event with us, so we will be around throughout the whole day to ensure you are safe and feel at home in Brighton & Eastbourne.

WILL THERE BE ANY FOOD/DRINK OPTIONS AVAILABLE?

Looking for a snack or something to drink during the fair? We will have plenty of business stalls on hand to assist with this! Once again, we are pleased to say Dominos will be returning to our Brighton Freshers' Fair, handing out FREE vouchers that will entitle you to 1 whole pizza for everyone who pops over to their stall.

Looking for a sweet treat? We hear that there may be a Doughnut truck also paying us a visit during the event for those of you who need dessert after your pizza!

Of course, our outlets will also be available on campus should you need to purchase lunch or something else before attending the event. Our staff team has been hard at work preparing new menus & choices for you to pick from for when you return back to campus. Simply visit our website for more information on your nearest options, and of course to pay them a visit throughout the academic year: Our Shops (brightonsu.com)

Always remember: When you purchase something from one of our shops or venues, you are directly support Brighton Students' Union. Your money goes directly back into your student experience, which allows us to fund future events, welfare materials, and new products that you ask us to bring in!
